Company Background and Goals

Our company was founded out of a true passion for working with all things Web-related. The core motivation behind the creation of our business was a desire to make an honest living doing something we truly enjoy. There is no plan to ever grow our business into a large, corporate-style entity that emphasizes profits over all else. In fact, quite the opposite is true. Our goal is to establish a reputation for exemplary customer satisfaction and unparalleled customer service. We sincerely care about the quality of our work and how it represents our business. We believe it is this drive for perfection that separates us from our peers and gives our customers a competitive advantage. Above all else, we care about customer satisfaction and high-quality results.

Owner Profile

EK Web Design was founded by Barker Powell, a graduate of Florida State University and a lifelong resident of Tallahassee, FL. After earning his bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS) from FSU in the summer of 2000, Barker went to work as a computer programmer for the State of Florida. About eight years and four jobs later, he decided it was time to take a chance and strike out on his own doing what he truly enjoyed: Web design and development.

During his time at the various professional positions that Barker has held in his career, one constant remained throughout: he was continuously improving upon his knowledge and understanding of Web design & development and the various associated Internet technologies. Teaching himself everything he could about the Web in his spare time, Barker began producing Web sites for friends and family and soon realized this was work that he truly enjoyed and decided this was the career that he wanted for himself. And thus, EK Web Design was born.
